Venue: Donut Whole, 2PM
John, Aum, Clint, and Ivy met with Meer Husain regarding his work in Bangladesh.
Meer is a geologist who works for KDHE and teaches and researches through Cowley College.
He started an NGO dealing with his work in Bangladesh which focuses on arsenic removal from the water supply.
He currently has a pilot community that is using his system and has plans to expand the reach into Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, Nepal, and elsewhere.
He is interested in working with EWB to expand the reach of his design and concept.
He is going to New York on December 18 for a conference regarding this issue. The focus of the conference is to gain financial and other support for these projects. He has invited us to attend and give a short (15 minute) presentation about our organization and goals.
He is also going to the pilot community (in Bangladesh) on December 25 for follow-up and training of locals.
He is dedicated to projects that are community owned and maintained.
He is interested in working with us as Project Lead (or having his friend be our project lead).
Action Items:
- Meer will send us information about his work.
- We will send Meer EWB documents (Program Application and Mentor Application)
- John and Ivy will meet with Dean Toro-Ramos about this project to solicit her support for travel to New York and for the project overall. We will communicate with Meer about this next week.
